Accommodation in Puerto Iguazu

All the adventure activities center around Iguazu Falls National Park. Much of it you can do independently. The viewing points for the falls are reached via a series of pasarelas or catwalks. There are several waterfalls to see. If the water-level permits there is a free launch over to Isla Grande San Martin which is right next to the biggest set of falls.

Nearby there is a company offering boat trips to the very edge of the biggest waterfalls. You are given bags to put all your belongings in because everything gets soaked from the immense spray given off from the falls. The excursion, however, is short and for $20 frankly not worth it. There are other boat trips available in the park including the Ecological Tour that starts at Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo) station.

To get to the highlight of the park, Garganta del Diablo, catch the free train. The view point is right above the falls. From the Garganta del Diablo train stop you can start the Sendero Macuco walk. It is well sign posted. It takes 2 hours to walk to the waterfall and back.

Iguazu Jungle Explorer in the visitor centre also offer a one hour 'Great Adventure' for $40 which includes a jeep ride down the Yacaratia Trail and a 6km boat journey (including 2kms through rapids). Again it doesn't seem worth it since you could hike the trail by yourself anyway.

To go really off the beaten track hitch hike on route 101 to the rarely visited part of the park near the village of Bernardo de Irigoyen.

Finally, there is a 50% discount on your second day in the park if you get your ticket stamped when leaving.
